I have spent several months studying books, articles, reference videos, and discussed with other nutritionists to list these 5 MUST-KNOW nutrition tips. I am certified Nutritionist as well. So, you have a reason to believe me. These 5 MUST-KNOW tips will help you be a better version of yourself and improve your overall well-being. Let’s Begin!
1. Water - It’s the most underrated and abused liquid in the world. Only a desperately thirsty individual or its scarcity will enlighten its importance and need. The first and fundamental step to look after your health is to drink sufficient water( I said SUFFICIENT not over-drink). For an adult, 2 to 3 liters of water would be fine. Hey, that’s the baseline. This range could vary depending on the season, such as summer, or your physical activity level, such as boxing or running, or any other cardio workouts. Now, drink water that’s good and not contaminated. Prefer to buy a bottle of water over flavored juices. It’s CHEAPER & EFFICENT.
2. Processed Food - I cannot stress this enough. Let me put it out straight - If you will live a longer and healthier life, prefer home cooked nutritious food over processed and packed foods. The nutrition value on the backside of the packet could mislead and confuse you. For Example: Transfat isn’t good for your body as it increases “bad” cholesterol. I mean, why would anyone want to torture their body?
3. Fruits - Juices are fancy and smoothies are fancier, right? Well, let me put this straight. You got teeth, tongue, and saliva to do the grinding and mixing, so keep it basic. Let your body do the “juice making”. You wouldn’t lose any fibre or any water-soluble vitamins. And you wouldn’t be a victim of unwanted carbs such as sugar. EAT YOUR FRUITS. Don’t drink them unless it’s the situation isn’t in your control.
4. Vegetables - These are supposed to have eaten. I would like to understand why people often undervalue them and why they prefer packaged foods over vegetables. Packaged foods don’t even offer half of the nutrients the vegetables offer. I mean, few carrots are always better than a pack of Maggi. When the home cooked food isn’t available, prefer the raw(and cleaned) vegetables such as carrot, tomatoes, radish, cucumber, and more. They not only offer great nutrients, but will help you maintain your weight goals.
5. Dairy Products - If you are a vegetarian and do not wish to be a victim of deficiencies such as calcium, prefer dairy products such as milk. Did you know? - It is recommended for kids. Of course, there are other sources, but dairy products are available. Especially in India. Next time, if someone tells you to avoid dairy products, AVOID THEM!
